Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Decided to give hot pot a chance, even though I’ve never had it before I’ve always wanted it, but was intimidated by the concept. We got there around seven and we’re seated very quickly and had a very kind server who helped explain the fundamentals of how things worked. I will say I recommend going with an experienced person or doing your previous research because it’s a lot to take in at one time between options, variety, different styles of broths I was totally lost, but with a little bit of help, I took my first attempt I went for most basic broth to stay on the safer side, and we were off to the races. The all you can eat buffet had some very good selections of fresh vegetables, fruit, and dumplings, which I did appreciate and there was like 30 sauces everything you could imagine everything was fresh and flavorful. My only complaint was that it was very overwhelming for a first time experience with no prior research and at the end I felt I didn’t win at all you can eat, but I have no complaints.

It’s rare to find an All-You-Can-Eat restaurant with such a high rating, but Shabu House in Fort Lee truly earns it. The meat quality is outstanding (highly recommend the Prime Ribeye), and the individual pots make for a clean and customized dining experience. The salad bar is incredibly fresh and well-maintained. The service was attentive and fast, making sure our table was always stocked with meat. Don’t forget to save room for the mango sorbet at the end! 10/10 would recommend to anyone in the NJ/NYC area.

I visited Shabu House for dinner and had a wonderful experience. Everything was perfect from the atmosphere to the food quality. Food: It's All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE). The meats (Prime Beef, Berkshire Pork) were very fresh, and the vegetable bar was well-organized. I loved the individual pot system. Broth: I tried the 'Mala' and 'Rich Pork Bone' soup base, and both were flavorful. Service: The staff was attentive and friendly. Bonus: They offer free homemade mango sorbet for dessert! 🍧 Highly recommended for anyone looking for a clean and delicious hotpot place in NJ.
